How Wills Solicitors Are Supporting St. Ann’s Hospice

Wolstenholmes Wills and Probate Experts Participate in Will Week to Highlight the Importance of a Last Will and Testament.

Wolstenholmes Solicitors is a proud supporter of St. Ann’s Hospice, Manchester, which works to improve the quality of life for those with life-threatening illnesses, whilst supporting their families and carers.

The team of wills solicitors and wills and probate experts at Wolstenholmes are taking part in St. Ann’s Will Week 2009, which runs from the 2nd to the 6th of March. During this time, if you make an appointment with one of the specialist wills solicitors at Wolstenholmes and have a last will and testament drawn up, the fee will be given directly to St. Ann’s.

‘We are proud to be participating in St. Ann’s Will Week,’ says A Non, one of the team of specialist wills solicitors at Wolstenholmes, ‘not only is it helping a great cause but it is also raising awareness of the importance of having a last will and testament drawn up by wills solicitors who are wills and probate experts. It is such an important thing to do, but sadly the majority of people die without having made a last will and testament and their families and loved ones suffer as a result.’

If someone dies without having left a last will and testament then a difficult situation can be created in regards to wills and probate law. The tax man is likely to take a larger slice of the estate than is necessary and loved ones, dependents and charities may lose out as a result. This wills and probate problem will take many months, if not years, for wills solicitors to sort out.

Having a proper last will and testament in place is the way around this and will give you the peace of mind to know that your loved ones will be looked after properly. By drawing up a last will and testament during St. Ann’s Will Week, with the help of Wolstenholmes wills solicitors, you can protect your nearest and dearest and help a worthy cause at the same time.

If you would like to help St. Ann’s, then please contact their Wills and Probate Officer Mandy Pope on 0161 498 3664, for details on how your last will and testament can make a difference.

Are You Thinking About Citrix? – Letter

Dear Network Manager,

Are You Thinking About Citrix?

As ICT becomes ever more important in education, many schools are looking at thin clients and Citrix as a way of providing reliable, cost-effective computing solutions for pupils and staff alike.

A recent survey by Becta found that many schools were reporting significant ICT savings after switching to thin clients; other benefits included ease of use and an increased confidence amongst pupils and staff using the system.

If you are considering a thin client system for your own school, but have not yet taken the plunge, then you may be asking yourself some of the following questions:

•    How do I know whether this is right for my school?
•    What problems might arise?
•    Which applications are thin clients good for, and which are they not?
•    What about multimedia?
•    How much will it all cost and are there any hidden extras?

Every school has different needs and circumstances and so to help you come to grips with these issues and make an informed decision, Northarbour has developed a special no-obligation, ‘proof of concept’ trial. This will give you the opportunity to assess the impact of thin client technology within your school and allow you to test the system against your own unique situation.

You may be looking for some guidance on the next generation of thin client solutions – such as Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, otherwise known as VDI. These desktop computers have become even smaller and easier to manage, but the features and facilities available have increased dramatically.  Imagine the benefits of high-quality, full screen video on a thin client.

Obviously, you will have questions: How would VDI fit within my school?  What are the licensing requirements?  How many servers will I need?  What about support? How much will it all cost?

We can help you with all these questions and more. At Northarbour, we have gained our skills, expertise and knowledge through working specifically in the educational sector, so we are well placed to advise you on this new wave of ICT solutions.  All our staff are highly experienced and can provide you with the back-up and support that is so vital when considering such an important purchase.

We understand the implications of introducing innovative technology into a school and can provide impartial and informed advice to all concerned. Indeed, if we feel that the technology is not best suited to your needs – we will tell you.

So, how would the proof of concept trial work?

Prior to you agreeing to the trial, a technical consultant from Northarbour will contact you to discuss what you hope to achieve and advise on the benefits of installation and implementation. We will then work with you to design a solution that fits in with your existing network configuration – yet still allows you to experience the technologies available.  Only when you are completely satisfied will we agree an installation date and begin work on bringing all the benefits of thin client technology to your school.

By taking part in this trial you can:

•    Virtually eliminate the risks associated with adopting thin client and server computing technology.
•    Provide your technical staff with vital knowledge and experience of the new system.
•    Take the opportunity to showcase the technology to senior staff and governors before actually committing any funds.

This trial usually costs £995.00*  However, following the high level of interest generated at the BETT Show in January from schools such as ‘NAME OF SCHOOL’, we have decided to extend the show offer price of just £495.00* for selected schools such as yours.

Further details of the trial can be found on the enclosed leaflet – please take a look to discover how Northarbour can work with you to identify and meet your own unique requirements.  Also included are details of the hardware and software that we will be installing for you – allowing you to ascertain just how well this can work within your school.

By taking advantage of this trial you can experience for yourself how thin clients and VDI technology can work with your own applications, and see how your ICT support burden can be massively reduced, whilst at the same time increasing accessibility and service levels for both staff and pupils.

Take a look at what we have to offer and if you like what you see, give us a call on 0845 8620762. We will be happy to discuss your needs and requirements and answer any questions you may have.

Yours faithfully

Little Britain USA Recommissioned!

Second Series of Hit Comedy Set For Production

Smash hit comedy Little Britain USA is due to hit our screens for a second series. Co-producers HBO and the BBC have been quick to recommission the hilarious show after a strong performance on both sides of the Atlantic. The rights to the Little Britain USA brand are held by PPC Enterprises, the commercial division of the Picture Production Company Group, which also holds the rights to Little Britain Classics, the established characters we all know and love.

Little Britain USA mixes old favourites such as Daffyd ‘the only gay in the village’ Thomas and Marjorie ‘Fatfighters’ Dawes with a host of new American characters. Series 2 is sure to see the return of the likes of retired astronaut Bing Gordyn, desperate for the recognition he feels he deserves as the eighth man on the moon, and the seemingly prim and proper Phyllis Church, who has a somewhat bizarre relationship with her King Charles spaniel, ‘Mr. Doggy’. Celebrity fans such as Rosie O’Donnell and Sting made guest appearances in the first series, while Friends star David Schwimmer directed the studio-based segments of the show.

The creative talents behind Little Britain, Matt Lucas and David Walliams, are renowned for their comic innovation and ability to the push the boundaries of good taste and there are sure to be plenty of new characters and hilarious sketches in the pipeline for the new show.

Despite Little Britain’s controversial brand of humour the series went down a storm across the pond, with USA Today welcoming the ‘marvellously talented Matt Lucas and David Walliams’ comedy revue’, while the Cleveland Leader declared that ‘for those who enjoy the wacky, self-deprecating hallmarks of British comedy, you’re in for a treat.’

Mark Hurry, legal and commercial director at PPC Enterprises, is delighted with the news of a second series: ‘Little Britain USA has been a huge hit and has added to the value of what is already a fantastic brand. Little Britain has gone truly global and as well as renewing licensing agreements with existing partners, we expect to be announcing new deals across the board in the near future.’
