I wanted to report on some of Australias popular digital job boards and their pricing structures ... they all seem to attract the same "local active talent" and seem to get away with charging an arm and a leg.
Why?!
Here are the facts;
Seek.com.au (2nd Most Expensive)
- Classic Ad - 30days, unlimited text and no deadlines - $195 ($214.50 inc GST)
- StandOut Ad - Bullets, logo and border in search results - $225 ($247.50 inc GST)
- Premium Ad - Highlighted at top of results for 7 days - from $240 ($264 inc GST)
- Executive Ad - For senior professional roles over $100K - $360 ($396 inc GST)
Mycareer.com.au (1st Most Expensive)

DigitalMediaJobs.com.au (AVERAGE)

- Website Ad + Resume Search - 30days, unlimited text listing and access to resumes - $385.00 inc GST.
ApplyNow.com.au (AVERAGE)
- Website Ad - 30days, unlimited text listing - $165.00 inc GST
JobServe.com.au (AVERAGE)
- Website Ad - 7days, unlimited text listing - $50.00 inc GST
- Website Ad - 30days, unlimited text listing - $150.00 inc GST
digitalTransfer.com.au (FREE)
AustralianInfront.com.au (CHEAPEST)
- Website Ad - 30days, unlimited text listing - $25.00 inc GST
Answer is;
Because they can and no one is doing anything about it!
digital Transfer and muMbrella seem to be the only FREE boards that are run independently, you can post and manage your own vacancies less the pain of timeless payment gateways / endless portals.
So, here is my 5 cents worth .... job boards don't work for specialist sectors such as digital and the truth is they are simply money making machines. Come on everyone, we live in a digital world and I believe that if its not rich-text-content then why should I/we be paying for it.
We'd love to hear your rant?
